‘Person at Work’

The assignment is devised to bring you into close contact with people and to introduce you to the problem of articulating specific information through the medium of photography. You are also encouraged to introduce some key picture making strategies that can be used to construct the narrative, to introduce and consider the implications of the camera’s unique ability to describe and record the world, to introduce a practice of portraiture in its disparate forms, to employ various strategies applicable to the direction of the work, to consider how narrative is constructed in documentary portraiture as well as to reveal the scope of the portrait concept.
With the presentation of your series you must communicate effectively in an oral, written and visual form and engage with forms of critical analysis, argument and debate, rather than describing information that the images already reveal.
The final series should consist of at least 7 but no more than 12 images.

Eugenijus Barzdžius was born in 1979 in Šiauliai, Lithuania. In 2002 he graduated with a BA in Academic Art and Graphic Design from Šiauliai University, Lithuania.
